“I never dreamt I would be in this industry. If it were not for some life events that transpired, creating an opportunity for me to step into uncharted territory, I never would have humbly experienced the blessings of being in this field.”

President, BodiScience Wellness Center & Spa

Dawn experienced a unique immersion of cultures at a very young age.  Starting at the age of five, she was raised away at school and lived in a convent with a Congregation of French Dominican Sisters who sacrificed their lives to provide a service to the catholic community along with a mission of educating young girls. Sacrifice, service and giving back to the community, were the important values she would take from her experience.

“Looking back, I found myself aligning with Japanese, French, Spanish and East Indian traditions that had intriguing rituals of how to care for ourselves emotionally, physically and spiritually. My mother encouraged me to flourish in this environment with her guidance of the importance of respecting my own beliefs, intuition independence. I began meditating at a young age and it remains a part of my daily routine.

Deep cultural values, including something as simple as handwriting, were taught to me by one of my classmates, Naomi. She would teach me calligraphy and the healing power of graphology, word by word, one stroke at a time. She would tell me to read between the lines, as well as through them. Be good to yourself so you can be nicer to others. Write your name slowly, politely, gently, just for you. Dedicate a time to just be, it will help you to be kind to yourself and that will radiate to others.”

Dawn started her career in the fashion retail industry, thinking the fashion industry was her passion and calling as she began working in television, orchestrating fashion shows, wardrobing celebrities and building her career.  Dawn continued with her education in the evening, attending Bentley for Accounting/Business Management with intentions of opening her own business.  A turn of events unfolded in her life that led her into her next endeavor: wellness.

The day Dawn signed her lease to open her business, her mother, an entrepreneur herself, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a difficult decision to go forward to open BodiScience; however, this personal experience strengthened her impetus to open a business that shared information about how to gain awareness of healthy behaviors.  Dawn began her Ayurvedic studies which further strengthened her commitment of wellbeing and compassion to share knowledge with people seeking to improve their health. She guided her mother through the traditional medical system with educating herself about alternative methods and reading medical journals about types of breast cancer. Together, empowered with knowledge, they made unorthodox decisions for her treatment.
